Welfare 11th October:
In protest of the incident in Lakhimpur, protests were staged by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Kalyan West this morning as well as a roadblock. A large number of NCP office bearers and activists had gathered at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Kalyan West.
The state’s Maha Vikas Aghadi government has called for a Maharashtra bandh today to protest the incident in Lakhimpur. The three political parties Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena in Kalyan Dombivali had announced yesterday that they would participate in the bandh with full force. Accordingly, around 8.30 am today, NCP office bearers and activists started protesting at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Kalyan West. After that, the NCP tried to block the road by setting up a sit-in in the middle of the road. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
Meanwhile, a large contingent of police was deployed against the backdrop of the protests.
